The demon you summoned was already sworn to Liam Rue. He lured you into agreeing to hex Liam’s children and in agreeing to harm innocents you created enough negative karma for yourself and proved yourself enough of a threat to Liam that he had just cause to kill you.

In your death you see that your whole life experience was part of one big game and that Liam Rue and the Apex were the Big Boss. It’s not a huge deal that you lost to them - pretty much everyone does - but you will have to be reincarnated into a new body and face off with them once again. Unfortunately your memory will be wiped so you must pray that your resolve and fight are stronger in this next round. You can’t win the game until you figure this out.
